Bellevue, WA — April 23, 2026 — Transforming Age announces the appointment of Brian Robbins as Chief Operating Officer. Robbins is joining Transforming Age’s senior leadership team and will play a central role in advancing organizational strategy, strengthening operational performance, and supporting continued growth across the Transforming Age network.
Robbins brings more than two decades of executive leadership experience in senior living and Life Plan Community operations. His career is defined by enterprise-level oversight, disciplined execution, and people-centered leadership. Most recently, Robbins served as chief operating officer of LifeSpace Communities, where he provided enterprise-wide operational leadership for a large, multi-site organization that included independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing communities, across a geographically diverse portfolio.
Prior to his most recent role, Robbins held senior leadership positions at Buckner Retirement Services and Life Care Services. In these roles, he led strategic planning, operational execution, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and leadership development across multiple Life Plan Communities. Across his career, Robbins has guided significant operational improvements, strengthened organizational culture, and partnered closely with boards and executive teams to align mission, strategy, and performance.
After nearly a decade of service in the United States Navy and Naval Reserve, Robbins built the leadership foundation that continues to guide his approach today—grounded in service, integrity, accountability, and mission-focused execution. His experience spans on-site community leadership, regional and enterprise operations, and large-scale organizational transformation.
“Everything starts with people,” Robbins said. “When you build strong teams, invest in culture, and allow people to show up as their best selves, they in turn serve residents and clients well. From there, operational excellence can follow. That is how you create outcomes that are repeatable, sustainable, and not dependent on any one individual.”
Robbins added that his leadership philosophy centers on embedding excellence into the organization rather than relying on individual leaders.
“I believe great operations are built on strong culture and accountability,” Robbins said. “When people feel supported, aligned with the mission, and trusted to do their job, they do extraordinary work. My passion is helping organizations build that foundation so excellence becomes repeatable, scalable, and embedded in how we show up every day.”
He also pointed to alignment between mission and operations as essential for long-term success.
“My approach has always been to lead through people, strengthen culture, and connect day-to-day operations back to mission,” Robbins said. “When those elements are aligned, organizations are positioned to deliver their best work for years to come.”
LEADERSHIP TRANSITION
Robbins succeeds Ken Noreen, who after four years of service as chief operating officer will transition into a planned pre-retirement phase where he will support Transforming Age’s development , management and consulting services affiliate, GSI with development and master planning projects as executive vice president of consulting services. During his tenure, Noreen played a key role in strengthening Transforming Age’s operational foundation and guiding the organization through a period of continued growth and increasing complexity.
“Ken’s leadership has been foundational to where Transforming Age is today,” said Torsten Hirche, president and chief executive officer of Transforming Age. “His steady focus on operational integrity, accountability, and partnership has helped prepare the organization for its next chapter. We are deeply grateful for his contributions and pleased that this transition allows for continuity and a thoughtful handoff of leadership.”
POSITIONED FOR CONTINUED GROWTH
As chief operating officer, Robbins will be responsible for translating Transforming Age’s strategic vision into operational excellence. His role will include supporting affiliate performance, strengthening systems and processes, and ensuring alignment across the organization as it advances its mission and vision to enable successful aging and advance healthy longevity.
“Brian brings the right combination of operational depth, strategic mindset, and people-first leadership,” Hirche said. “He understands that sustained excellence is built through strong teams, clear systems, and values-aligned execution. With Brian stepping into the COO role, we are well positioned for the future.”
A lifelong learner, Robbins holds a bachelor’s degree and Certificate in Leadership Studies from Fort Hays State University, a Certificate in Long-Term Adult Care Administration from Cowley College, and a Certificate in Human Dimensions of Organizations from The University of Texas at Austin. He is also a licensed nursing home administrator in Texas (formerly in Kansas and Nebraska).
