On World Alzheimer’s Day, we take time to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia while honoring the individuals, families, and caregivers whose lives are touched by these conditions every day. It is also an opportunity to shift the conversation from what dementia takes away to what remains: a lifetime of experiences, relationships, talents, and stories that continue to shape who a person is. At Transforming Age, that belief is the foundation of the MyLife Memory Support Program.
A dementia diagnosis does not define a person. Every resident comes to us with a unique history, cherished memories, favorite activities, and meaningful relationships. MyLife was created to honor those stories and ensure that each individual continues to experience purpose, dignity, connection, and joy throughout their journey. Rather than focusing on limitations, the program focuses on the whole person, helping residents remain engaged in ways that are meaningful to them.

The name “MyLife” reflects the values that guide every interaction:
Unique – Every resident has their own story, preferences, abilities, and experiences. We tailor our approach to honor who they are as individuals.
Recognize – We recognize that behavior is a form of communication. By understanding a resident’s story, feelings, and needs, we can provide support with empathy and compassion.
Meaningful – Every interaction is an opportunity to create purpose, bring joy, and foster connection. Small moments can have a lasting impact.
Engage – We believe every resident has the ability to learn, grow, succeed, and participate in life in ways that are meaningful to them.
Join – Community matters. We encourage residents, families, and team members to come together to create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone belongs.

These principles aren’t simply words on a page. They are put into action every day through personalized care, meaningful engagement, and genuine human connection.
One of the ways we bring this philosophy to life is through Memory Books, a foundational part of the MyLife program. Filled with personal histories, favorite hobbies, important milestones, and the people and experiences that have shaped an individual’s life, these books help team members get to know residents beyond their diagnosis. They provide opportunities for conversation, connection, reminiscence, and joy while helping preserve each resident’s sense of identity and dignity.
Using these personal insights, our teams create opportunities for meaningful engagement throughout the day. Some residents thrive in group activities, while others prefer one-on-one interactions or smaller experiences tailored to their interests. Through both structured programming and individualized engagement, residents are encouraged to participate in activities that nurture social, emotional, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and purposeful well-being. The goal is not simply to fill a schedule, but to make every day meaningful.
The MyLife approach also extends to everyday experiences, including dining. Mealtimes are designed to promote independence, choice, and dignity, giving residents opportunities to make decisions and maintain a sense of control in their daily lives. Even the smallest moments are viewed as opportunities to support self-expression, confidence, and connection.
Families play an essential role in this journey as well. Through shared stories, participation in activities, and collaboration with care teams, families help us better understand what matters most to their loved ones. Together, we create an environment where residents feel known, supported, and valued.
This World Alzheimer’s Day, we celebrate every person living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. We honor their stories, recognize their individuality, and reaffirm our commitment to creating communities where people can continue to live with purpose and connection.
At Transforming Age, MyLife reminds us that memory support is about far more than care. It’s about seeing the person behind the diagnosis, celebrating who they are, and helping them experience meaningful moments each and every day.
MyLife: Engage. Recognize. Join. Unique. Meaningful.
