Carriage Glen Celebrates Grand Reopening with all of Lincoln

April 30, 2025 – Carriage Glen celebrated a historic event with the grand reopening of their newly renovated community. The gathering marked the culmination of an intricate master planning and development process, nearly 5 years in the making. With 30 resident volunteers hosting Lincolnites to an open house featuring tours of resident homes and delicate refreshments, over 175 locals took advantage of the opportunity to tour this independent senior living campus. Built in 1997, the community has been an integral resource to older adults in Lincoln for the past 28 years, offering 51 independent living apartments and a vibrant lifestyle filled with amenities, events, and endless social connections.   The event was capped with a ribbon cutting ceremony put on by the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and a special dedication honoring a beloved couple of Carriage Glen who were the first to move-in back in 1997 and still call the community home.

“Carriage Glen is such a special place,” says Executive Director, Kim Kallhoff. “That’s why our community has always stayed full over the years.  This multi-million-dollar renovation is just one example of our ongoing commitment to residents and to reinvest in the community, ensuring that Carriage Glen remains vibrant, modern, and sustainable for years to come.”

The renovation project, which spanned over the last 5 years, was carefully managed to avoid disrupting the quality of life for residents.  The transformation included upgrades to amenities inside and outside, as well as new areas to support the active senior lifestyle including a putting green, bocce ball and shuffleboard court.

“Residents always tell me how much they love the size of our community,” says Kallhoff, “With only 51 apartments, we all know each other by name.”

Carriage Glen offers independent living on a monthly rental basis, and includes three dinners a week, grab-and-go-breakfast, transportation services, cable, and Wi-Fi.  Offering a wide range of apartment styles and underground parking, the community supports a carefree-independent senior lifestyle.

“Scientists are just now starting to understand the strong correlation between social connections and longevity,” says Kallhoff, “Here at Carriage Glen we’ve seen firsthand the transformative power of sharing regular meals with friends, engaging in events, and prioritizing social activities.  It’s no surprise to me that some of our very first residents, who moved in in their 70s, are still thriving at Carriage Glen 28 years later!”
