The Perfect Pair program brings together residents and student volunteers from San Francisco State University to create meaningful intergenerational friendships that enrich the lives of everyone involved. Through shared experiences, conversation, and companionship, these connections help bridge generations while fostering a stronger sense of community, understanding, and belonging.

The program offers both one-on-one visits and monthly group activities. Students are paired with residents and meet weekly to spend quality time together, whether it’s chatting over coffee, playing games, taking walks, participating in activities, or simply enjoying each other’s company. Over time, these regular visits often grow into genuine friendships built on trust, mutual respect, and shared experiences.

In addition to the weekly pair visits, volunteers come to the community each month for special group events that bring residents and students together in a fun and engaging setting. Activities vary throughout the year and may include flower arranging, arts and crafts, holiday celebrations, egg decorating in the spring, cookie decorating during the holidays, and other seasonal events designed to encourage creativity, connection, and joy.
