At Transforming Age, every community has a unique story, shaped by the people who call it home and the leaders who help create an environment where residents can thrive. Through our Executive Director Spotlight Series, we’re introducing the dedicated individuals whose passion, experience, and commitment help make our communities special places to live, work, and belong.
This week, we’re proud to feature Linda Hall, Executive Director of The Regency of Kearney. For Linda, senior living is more than a career. It’s a vocation built on relationships, service, and a genuine love for the people she has the privilege of supporting every day.
Linda’s journey into senior living began more than three decades ago. In 1993, she and her husband made a major life transition after selling their fire and water restoration business and relocating to Kearney. During that time, Linda began working privately in clients’ homes, providing support to individuals throughout the community.
Many of those clients happened to be residents of The Regency of Kearney, a community she had become familiar with shortly after it opened in 1992. Through those experiences, Linda discovered something she hadn’t expected: she truly enjoyed working with older adults.
As she built relationships with residents and learned more about their stories, experiences, and needs, she developed a deep appreciation for senior living and the meaningful impact it can have on people’s lives.
When the Executive Director position at The Regency of Kearney became available, Linda saw an opportunity to continue serving a community she had already come to admire. She applied for the role and began her leadership journey there in August of 1996.
More than three decades after first discovering her passion for working with seniors, and over 30 years after first becoming connected to The Regency, Linda still looks forward to coming to work each day.
“It has always been deeply fulfilling to meet residents and their families,” she shares.
Part of what has kept Linda at The Regency of Kearney for so many years is the unique atmosphere of the community itself.
With just 34 apartments and approximately 40 residents, The Regency offers an intimate, family-oriented environment where people genuinely know and care for one another. Residents form meaningful friendships, staff build personal connections, and families become part of the community’s extended support system.
For Linda, that close-knit culture is one of the community’s greatest strengths.
“It feels very warm and family-oriented,” she says, noting that residents truly look out for each other and take an active interest in one another’s well-being.
That sense of community aligns perfectly with Linda’s leadership philosophy.
She believes that trust is built through honesty, consistency, and mutual respect. Whether working with residents, families, or team members, she strives to create an environment where people know they can rely on one another.
At the heart of The Regency’s culture is a commitment to treating others with dignity, kindness, and compassion.
“We support each other, treat one another with honor and respect, and actively look for ways to show kindness, empathy, and compassion,” Linda explains.
She and her team embrace what she calls a “people before paper” approach, recognizing that while schedules, tasks, and responsibilities are important, people always come first.
Sometimes that means setting work aside for a few moments to listen to a resident who wants to share a story. Other times it means being present for a family member who needs reassurance or support.
For Linda, those moments matter.
She believes the strongest communities are built not only through service, but through genuine human connection.
Over the years, those connections have become one of the most rewarding aspects of her career.
Looking back on decades at The Regency, Linda reflects on the many residents and families she has had the privilege to know. Through celebrations, milestones, life transitions, and everyday conversations, she has accumulated countless memories that continue to inspire her.
“I feel truly blessed to call many of them friends,” she says.
Those relationships have shaped both her professional journey and her personal life, reinforcing her belief that senior living is ultimately about people and the meaningful connections we build together.
Outside of work, Linda enjoys many of the same things that bring people together within the community.
She loves cooking and baking and often opens her home to family and friends for dinners and gatherings. She and her husband have also spent years renovating their farmhouse, a project that has become both a labor of love and a source of pride.
More recently, they have focused on landscaping their property, creating outdoor spaces where they can relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of nature.
“We enjoy sitting on the patio listening to the birds and crickets sing,” she shares.
Among her many interests, one of the areas she is most passionate about is her study of the Bible. She spends time researching scripture and teaching one-on-one Bible study classes, an experience she finds deeply meaningful and rewarding.
When asked what she hopes residents, families, and team members know about her, Linda’s answer reflects the same qualities that have defined her leadership throughout the years.
“I want people to know they can count on me.”
Whether someone needs a trusted sounding board, a helping hand, a favorite recipe, a small favor, or simply someone willing to listen, Linda strives to be available and dependable.
That commitment to serving others has guided her throughout her career and continues to shape the culture at The Regency today.
For more than 30 years, Linda has devoted herself to creating a community where residents feel valued, families feel supported, and team members work together with compassion and purpose. Her leadership is grounded in kindness, trust, and the belief that taking time for people is always time well spent.
It’s a philosophy that has helped make The Regency feel less like a residence and more like a family.
